Abdel,* an elderly Yemeni father, searches each day for ways to earn an income and feed his family. Conflict in the country makes it difficult for many breadwinners like him to provide for their families.
Abdel’s five children are responsible to fetch water for the household. They used to divide this job among them—half of them went to school while the others made the long journey to the well. Those who went to the well left early in the morning and spent most of the day fetching water.
Thanks to faithful CAM supporters, we gave Abdel a water system that collects, stores, and filters rainwater. With this gift, Abdel’s children can attend school instead of choosing between school or water.
