The Turkana people in the valley of Peleketch, Kenya, have endured desert-like conditions for centuries. However, the sparse rain in the past few years has created new challenges. Most of them are goat herders. With little rain, herds dwindle, and rivers dry up and are referred to as “sand rivers.”

CAM supporters made it possible to drill a well for the Turkana tribe. The new borehole with a solar-powered pump is a life-changing gift to the community and provides a dependable water source when all other waterholes dry up. Even though some women still walk for miles to fetch water, they can now come to this well and collect fresh water for cooking, drinking, washing, and watering their goats.
