With the cost of living in Moldova similar to North America, Vasile’s monthly income of around $200 is stretched thin as he tries to meet the needs of his wife and eleven children.
Unlike most Moldovan fathers, summer is the most difficult time of the year for Vasile. Winter usually brings hardship for people in Eastern Europe, but for Vasile, winter is a blessing. During the winter, Vasile has a more stable income with his job of keeping the fires going to heat the school.
Vasile and his family are thankful they can depend on the monthly Adopt-A-Family food parcel from CAM to help them. Although the food parcel doesn’t nearly supply all the food Vasile and his family need for a month, it helps. Our distribution drivers tell us, “Every time they get something from CAM, they’re very thankful and mindful of where it comes from. They give honor to God.”
The Goncear family of fifteen is another Moldovan family who receives monthly parcels of food. Sergiu, the father, is almost blind, which hinders his ability to work. Many of the responsibilities fall on his wife who diligently cares for their children. The gift of a monthly food parcel is no doubt a blessing in this home.
